Zenless Zone Zero is a gacha game at heart, where players must collect a handful of characters to beat some challenging content. With several different personalities at work, each character comes with a different class, elements, and weapons, making it solely the player's choice to optimize their teams. This is why understanding the gacha is important.

This article will guide you through the Zenless Zone Zero gacha system basics, its pity, banner, currencies, and more. Note that this game has one additional item necessary for combat called Bangboo. Each Bangboo assists a team of three characters in combat, most of which synergizes with a unit's or a team's buff.

Players will find a separate banner for Bangboo, the details of which are given below.

Zenless Zone Zero Gacha and Pity system explained

1) All available banners

Zenless Zone Zero has four primary banners, excluding the beginner's choice. Once you are done spending all your currency and getting the S-ranked character, you will be left with four banners that will accompany you for the rest of your life. These banners are as follows:

  • Channel Exclusive: Character rate-up banner
  • Channel W-Engine: Rate-up Weapon banner
  • Channel Stable: Standard banner with random character or weapon
  • Channel Bangboo: Rate-up Bangboo banner

The beginner's choice banner will act as a standard banner at first, with a discount on every 10 pulls. This means each 10 pulls will require eight premium currencies instead of 10. Once the S-rank drops, the beginner's choice banner will disappear, leaving behind the usual standard banner.

2) Pity count on each banner

The pity count is different across all banners. Here is a list of all banners and the pity count for S-rank characters in Zenless Zone Zero:

  • Beginner's banner: Guaranteed S-rank character at 50 pulls. A guaranteed A-rank character or W-Engine at every 10 pulls.
  • Standard banner: Guaranteed S-rank character or W-Engine at 90 pulls. A guaranteed A-rank character or W-Engine at every 10 pulls. A guaranteed S-rank character can be selected after 300 pulls in the Standard banner.
  • Limited W-Engine banner: A 75% chance of dropping the rate-up W-Engine at 80 pulls. If a non-rate-up W-Engine drops, the next S-rank will be the featured rate-up drop.
  • Limited character banner: A 50% chance of dropping the rate-up S-rank character for the first time at 90 pulls. If a non-rate-up S-rank character drops, the next S-rank will be the featured rate-up drop.
  • Bangboo banner: A 100% chance of dropping the player-selected S-rank Bangboo from this banner at 80 pulls.

The following section should help you break down all the currencies required for each banner, alongside a few Genshin Impact/Honkai Star Rail terminologies for players of the other HoYoverse titles.

3) Gacha currencies explained

Every gacha banner in Zenless Zone Zero follows a separate currency in terms of type and numbers. Let us start with the beginner's banner.

The beginner's banner will act as the standard banner for anyone starting the game, with a discount. The currency required to pull on this banner is "Master Tape," equivalent to Acquiant Fate from Genshin Impact or a Star Rail Pass from Honkai Star Rail. Each copy of Master Tape requires 160 Polychrome, equivalent to Primogems or Stellar Jades.

Master Tape will continue to be useful in the standard banner for the rest of the game once you get an S-rank character from the beginner's banner.

Both the Limited character banner and limited W-Engine banner require Encrypted Master Tap, equivalent to Intertwined Fate or Special Star Rail Pass.

Lastly, for the Bangboo banner, each pull requires a separate currency that is different from everything else, called Boopon. Boopons cannot be bought using premium currencies. Instead, they are completely free to acquire via daily commissions, endgame commissions, in-game missions, and more.
