W-engines in Zenless Zone Zero are weapons equipped by agents to increase their base stats. They have three rarities (S, A, and B-rank) where each W-engine has a base, advanced stats, and a passive effect. The effect can be activated during combat to provide additional benefits but is restricted to the character's fighting style.

For instance, only attack agents can activate an attack W-engine's passive and can be leveled the same way you level agents in the game. However, there are 40+ W-engines and resources are limited. Thus, it is natural for players to wonder which are the best weapons to invest in.

In this article, we have created a ZZZ W-engine tier list based on their performance in the Zenless Zone Zero 1.0 update and previous CBTs (Close Beta Tests).

From the get go, it is worth noting that this tier list evaluates the W-engine performance when equipped by agents of the matching fighting style in Zenless Zone Zero. The following section will review all ZZZ 1.0 W-engines based on their ranks.

S+ Tier

Here is a list of W-engines placed in the Zenless Zone Zero S+ category:

  • Deep Sea Visitor (CRIT)
  • Riot Suppressor Mark VI (CRIT)
  • Steel Cushion (CRIT)
  • Hellfire Gears (Impact)
  • Fusion Compilers (PEN Ratio)

Deep Sea Visitor and Riot Suppressor Mark VI are limited S-rank W-engines that can only be obtained from Exclusive Channels. They are the BiS slot weapon for Ellen and Zhu Yuan. However, they can also perform excellently on other attack agents due to their CRIT stats, irrespective of whether they can take advantage of the passive effect or not.

Steel Cushion is the best W-engine for Nekomiya Mana and other Physical attack-type agents.

Hellfire Gears is an excellent option for Stun agents with its Impact% secondary stats. The passive provides additional ER% when equipped off-field and increases the equipper's impact% when releasing EX Special attacks.

Fusion Compiler provides PEN Ratio as secondary stat and passive, offering more Anomaly Proficiency when the equipper uses Special or EX Special attacks. It is currently the only S-rank Anomaly W-engine that is suitable for all Anomaly agents.

S Tier

Here is a list of W-engines placed in the Zenless Zone Zero S category:

  • The Brimstone (ATK%)
  • The Restrained (Impact)
  • Weeping Cradle (PEN Ratio)
  • Kaboom the Cannon (ER%)
  • Roaring Ride (ATK%)
  • Big Cylinder (DEF%)
  • Cannon Rotor (CRIT)

The Brimstone is one of the best ATK% weapons and an excellent choice during ZZZ's early progression. However, it will lose value in mid-high tier, where it is beneficial to have CRIT secondary stats on W-engines.

The Restrained is one of best W-engines for Stun agents. It has Impact% as secondary stat, and provides additional daze and DMG dealt through basic attacks.

Weeping Cradle is an S-rank support option that provides PEN Ratio% as secondary stat. Its passive provides the equipped ER% and DMG% to the whole party, making it a reliable utilitarian W-engine.

Kaboom the Cannon is an A-rank support weapon with ER% stats. The passive offers ATK buffs to the whole team, which has 100% uptime.

Roaring Ride is a unique W-engine suitable for all Anomaly agents. Hitting an enemy with EX Special attack will trigger the passive that offers a random buff between increasing ATK, Anomaly Proficiency, or Anomaly Buildup Rate.

Big Cyclinder is one of the best W-engine for defense-type agents. The passive offers damage mitigation and guarantees CRIT on your next attack after getting hit by enemies.

Cannon Rotor is a powerful W-engine for all attack-type agents. It is a ZZZ battle pass weapon that provides CRIT stats while its passive effects offer additional ATK%. Despite being locked behind a pay wall, it is one of the best A-rank W-engines in Zenless Zone Zero.

A Tier

Here is a list of W-engines placed in the Zenless Zone Zero A category:

  • Street Superstar (ATK%)
  • Slice of Time (Pen Ratio)
  • Rainforest Gourmet (Anomaly Proficiency)
  • Starlight Engine (ATK%)
  • Steam Oven (ER%)
  • Electro-Lip Gloss (Anomaly Proficiency)
  • Bunny Band (DEF%)
  • Spring Embrace (ATK%)
  • Housekeeper (ATK%)
  • Drill Rig-Red Axis (ER%)
  • Unfettered Game Ball (ER%)
  • Six Shooter (Impact)

Starlight Engine is an A-rank W-engine universally suitable for all attack agents. The passive offers more ATK% after each dodge counter or quick assist. For physical attack agents, Housekeeper is a great W-engine that provides ATK%, Energy Regen, and additional physical DMG.

Drill Rig-Red Axis is a good weapon for Electric attack agents. Its secondary stats provide ER%, but the passive effects offer additional Electric DMG on basic and dash attacks after launching EX Special or Chain attacks.

Electro Lip Gloss is a ZZZ battle pass W-engine and is one of the best A-rank options for all Anomaly agents. The passive offers additional ATK% and DMG buffs. Alternatively, players can opt for Rainforest Gourmet, which is more F2P-friendly with a similar passive.

The remaining W-engines in the A-tier are all decent choices for their respective agents. However, most of them provide conditional buffs which are harder to stack or take advantage of.

B Tier

Here is a list of W-engines placed in the Zenless Zone Zero B category:

  • Demara Battery Mark II (Impact)
  • Precious Fossilized Core (Impact)
  • Original Transmorpher (HP%)
  • Weeping Gemini (ATK%)
  • The Vault (ER%)
  • Starlight Engine Replica (ATK%)
  • Bashful Demon (ATK%)
  • [Lunar] Noviluna (CRIT)
  • [Reverb] Mark II (ER%)
  • [Vortex] Arrow (Impact)
  • [Magnetic Storm] Alpha (ATK%)
  • [Identity] Base (DEF%)

Although all of the Zenless Zone Zero W-engine in this category are lackluster in comparison to ones mentioned in higher tiers, The Vault can be considered an exception. It is an A-rank best suitable for Ether supports. The passive activates when dealing Ether DMG via EX Special attack, Chain attack, or Ultimate, to increase the entire squad's DMG.

C Tier

Here is a list of W-engines placed in the Zenless Zone Zero C category:

  • [Lunar] Pleniluna (ATK%)
  • [Lunar] Decrescent (ATK%)
  • [Reverb] Mark I (ATK%)
  • [Reverb] Mark III (HP%)
  • [Vortex] Revolver (ATK%)
  • [Vortex] Hatchet (ER%)
  • [Magnetic Storm] Bravo (Anomaly Proficiency)
  • [Magnetic Storm] Charlie (PEN Ratio)

Players are recommended to invest little to nothing on B-rank W-engines. They are inferior to A-rank and S-rank options in terms of base stats, secondary stats, and passive effects.
