After a comparatively good race at the Monaco GP, Force India drivers weren’t able to take much from the Canadian GP. Their drivers managed to gain only 7 points and took their tally to 51 points, 5th in the standings.
Though both the racers managed to be in the top 10 positions, there are still many things that need to be looked at before they enter the British GP.
Adrian Sutil fought back brilliantly at Monaco and ended up in fifth place, his best place so far in this season. After such a performance, Force India were expecting a lot from him, but he failed to impress as he finished the Canadian GP in 10th place and was able to add only 1 point into his kitty.
Paul di Resta, after the Bahrain GP, hasn’t been able to impress so much as he finished 7, 9, 7 respectively in the Spanish, Monaco and the Canadian GP. He has come off two very difficult qualifying sessions in Monaco and Canada where he lined up 17th on the grid, but he drove strongly in each race to score good points. Now he looks for a smooth practice and qualifying to enable him to start where he should for Force India.
“It’s great to see both our cars in the points at our 100th Grand Prix. It brings our tally to 51 points and strengthens our fifth position in the championship. Paul showed his fighting spirit with a remarkable drive to seventh with just one stop. The car had great pace and he looked after his medium compound tyres extremely well. I don’t think anybody thought there were 56 laps in those tyres but he pulled it out of the bag. Adrian’s afternoon was rather more eventful, but it was a disappointment to pick up the penalty in the closing laps so it’s something we need to review. Overall I think we should be pleased with the outcome after a challenging weekend. The car remains competitive and we can hopefully carry our form into our local race at Silverstone at the end of the month.” - Robert Fernley, Deputy Team Principal had to say on his teams performance.
Sahara Force India was unable to convert its pace into points in the last season of the British GP 2012 as Nico Hülkenberg finished twelfth. Paul Di Resta was out of luck as he retired after picking up damage on the opening lap of the race. He crashed at Aintree on the first lap after making contact with Romain Grosiean. Adrian Sutil wasn’t present in the 2012 season as he wasn’t able to keep his seat. Hence, it will be a great chance for him to prove his worth after a disappointing finish at the Canadian GP.
Though Force India, through it’s performance at the Canadian GP have strengthened it’s 5th position, it still there is a lot of work to be done if they are eyeing to get past the 4th placed Lotus Renault.
