Red Bull’s Mark Webber stole the show at qualifying in Suzuka as he grabbed pole position ahead of his team mate Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes.

It was an incident packed qualifying session which saw two cars catch fire - Gutierrez’s car caught fire while it was in the garage as he scrambled to safety while Vergne’s car caught fire on the track causing a lot of smoke and the red flag to be waved.

Q1 saw Sutil, Vergne, Chilton, Pic, Van der Garde and Bianchi miss out while Q2 saw Ricciardo, Maldonado, Gutierrez, Bottas, Di Resta and Perez miss out on a top 10 spot.

Q3 saw a lot of action as drivers desperately tried to get P1 but Mark Webber saw off a late surge from Vettel and Hamilton.
