New Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS) The proposed weight limits for the 2014 Formula 1 season have Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg worried even though he is one of the lighter drivers on the grid.
Rosberg at 1.78 metres is one of the smallest F1 drivers alongside Felipe Massa, Lewis Hamilton, and Sergio Perez.
“The height is not so much of an issue for me but I have to keep my weight in check. I guess I will have to cut down on the fatty stuff looking at 2014 and may be give up on sweets during Christmas,” said Rosberg ahead of the Indian Grand Prix.
The current weight limit of the car and driver is no more than 642kg and with heavier turbo engines to be used next year, the limit has been raised to 690kg. However, much of the extra 48kg is likely to be taken up by the engines.
The restrictions have put the drivers in a spot of bother especially the taller ones like Jenson Button and Nico Hulkenberg.
Rosberg said the rule changes could lead to an unpredictable season.
“All of us start afresh next year. Whoever makes the use of new rules better initially, will surely have the upper hand.”
