The 2023 F1 Monaco GP comes at a perfect time for quite a few drivers on the grid. The season has not truly gathered the momentum this year because of somewhat questionable scheduling and cancellations.

The cancellation of the race in China was a huge blow and the same was the case with the race in Imola even though that was the perfect thing to do.

In all of this though, there are quite a few drivers that are already facing the heat. For some it has been the lack of results in the first five races and for others it has been a scenario where maybe their seat is in danger already.

In essence, heading to the 2023 F1 Monaco GP, some drivers are desperate for a result to get things rolling in the right direction. Who are these drivers? Well, let's take a look.

2023 F1 Monaco GP: Drivers desperate for a strong result

#1 Sergio Perez

If there is ever a demoralizing sight for a driver then it has to be what happened to Perez in Miami. Coming into that race, the Mexican was on cloud nine. He had beaten Max Verstappen in a straight fight in Baku. The championship lead was in single digits for Max and Checo was roaring.

What happened in Miami would have made a severe dent in the hopes of a championship battle for Perez. Starting the race in P9 while your teammate start from the pole position and then beating him in a straight fight was what Max was able to achieve. That just showed the gulf in the ultimate performance of the two drivers and how much of a gap there is between the two teammates.

Coming to the 2023 F1 Monaco GP, Sergio Perez is back to the place where he won last year. If there are any hopes of a title battle, they have to start at this race for the Mexican. A strong result is the need of the hour, it will be interesting to see if Perez can get it.

#2 Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll's consistent obliteration from his teammate has started to catch the eye of the onlookers now. The Canadian has not been on Fernando Alonso's level more often than not. What has been worse is the off-weekends from Stroll push him further away from his teammate.

The race in Miami was the one where Stroll legitimately had a poor outing. He started the race near the back of the grid while Alonso started the race on the front row. When something like this happens, questions are asked and more often than not, the questions are around the Canadian being the weaker link.

Heading into the 2023 F1 Monaco GP, Lance Stroll has not outraced or even out-qualified his teammate even once in five races. To make things worse, while Fernando Alonso has scored four podiums and is at a points tally of 75 points, Stroll has a meager tally of just 27 points to his name.

The 2023 F1 Monaco GP is supposed to be a race where Aston Martin does well, can Stroll make the most of it? Well, he would certainly hope to.

#3 Nyck de Vries

Whether it is fair or not, Nyck de Vries' seat is in danger and he could be out of F1 before the season even ends. That's not our assertion but this was something that Helmut Marko implied when he said that the Dutch driver has been given a 'yellow card' by Red Bull.

On paper, this is still the rookie season for Nyck de Vries but as a 28-year old he is not being measured or even viewed with the same lens as possibly a Yuki Tsunoda was once upon a time.

The first five races of this season have been underwhelming at best and looking at the kind of results he's had, there is a fair argument over why he was even picked up in the first place.

Coming into the 2023 F1 Monaco GP, the Dutch driver would be very aware of the task at hand for him. Not only does he have to do a better job, but he also has to show Red Bull that he is someone that could drive for the senior team in the future.

The Dutch driver has an arduous task in front of him. It will be interesting to see if he can accomplish it at the 2023 F1 Monaco GP.
