The 2024 F1 Austrian GP ended up being a very interesting race, though one that ended in tears for a few drivers. The best part about the race was the exceptional drives that were put together by George Russell, Nico Hulkenberg, and Oscar Piastri.
The results that these drivers put together were very impressive and so was the level at which they performed. Sure, there was a crash or two that led to a surprise result, but overall this was one race that could potentially be significant in the bigger scheme of things.

Methodology
We take the average of the driver ratings for every race and then rank the field according to that.
F1 Drivers 'Pound for Pound' Ranking (After Austrian GP 2024)
#20 Logan Sargeant (Avg: 5.35)
Logan Sargeant had a somewhat decent race in Austria. He continues to find himself in P20 for now, even though there is scope for jumping a place or two in the near future.
#19 Lance Stroll (Avg: 5.41)
Lance Stroll might have had a few impressive showings, but they have intertwined with a few poor races as well. He continues to languish in P19.
#18 Guanyu Zhou (Avg: 5.64)
Zhou has not outqualified Bottas the entire season and has not shown anything that could give him hope of staying beyond 2024 in F1.
#17 Sergio Perez (Avg: 5.77)
Sergio Perez finished the F1 Austrian GP behind Haas. Sure there was damage, but he was still in a Red Bull that lost to Nico Hulkenberg in an uncompetitive car.
#16 Kevin Magnussen (Avg:6.05)
Kevin Magnussen had a brilliant F1 Austrian GP race weekend. The Danish driver will be hoping to continue this form and maybe that would help secure his seat for the future.
#15 Valtteri Bottas (Avg: 6.09)
The problem that Bottas continues to face is a bad car and a worse teammate. It's become very hard to gauge how good Bottas is when the car is poor and the teammate shouldn't even be in F1.
#14 Daniel Ricciardo (Avg: 6.23)
The F1 Austrian GP was another race where Daniel Ricciardo stepped in with a sword hanging over his head. That sword isn't gone after a strong race, but for the moment it's perhaps less deadly. Daniel is starting to find form now and climbing up the rankings as well.
#13 Lewis Hamilton (Avg: 6.50)
Lewis Hamilton didn't have a great F1 Austrian GP and as a result, the ascendance that he had experienced in the last few races has abated for now.
#12 Pierre Gasly (Avg: 6.68)
Pierre Gasly once again scored a point for Alpine at the F1 Austrian GP. The French driver might have the equipment advantage over his teammate as he continues to use the lighter chassis, but he still delivers and that's what's important.
#11 Alex Albon (Avg: 6.77)
Another decent race for Alex Albon, as he continues to be right on the cusp of the top 10.
#10 Fernando Alonso (Avg: 6.82)
The fact that Fernando Alonso is just P10 after this many races is something that he might consider an insult to himself. But the dwindling nature of the Aston Martin's performance at the F1 Austrian GP leaves the Spaniard in this position.
#9 Yuki Tsunoda (Avg: 7.05)
Yuki Tsunoda is slowly starting to get caught up by his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. He's dropped a few places in the last few races and will be hoping to reverse the trend soon.
#8 Oscar Piastri (Avg: 7.05)
A strong F1 Austrian GP from Piastri. He's starting to find his groove at McLaren and it does set up an interesting prospect.
#7 Carlos Sainz (Avg: 7.40)
A solid weekend for Carlos Sainz means another strong accumulation of points. He's in P7 in the rankings.
#6 Esteban Ocon ( Avg: 7.50)
Ocon is in a losing battle, where he's leaving his team while his teammate stays. Another weekend where Gasly outpaced him, albeit in a lighter car.
#5 George Russell (Avg: 7.59)
The race winner of the F1 Austrian GP, George Russell, is getting more and more consistent and is now amongst the top 5.
#4 Nico Hulkenberg (Avg: 7.73)
Hulkenberg dragged Haas to P6 in the race. His consistency continues to be highly underrated in the sport.
#3 Charles Leclerc (Avg: 8.00)
Charles was joint P1 with Max Verstappen at one stage but his performances have taken a downward turn. This one was a weekend to forget for the Ferrari driver.
#2 Lando Norris ( Avg: 8.32)
Lando Norris would be seething due to the DNF. The driver had a brilliant race before that and the form is quite clearly there.
#1 Max Verstappen ( Avg: 8.59)
A weekend to forget for Max Verstappen as the Dutchman's F1 Austrian GP drive was just excellence personified until it wasn't.
