George Russell continued Mercedes' blistering run of form in Nevada after he claimed the 2024 Las Vegas GP pole position. The British driver got the better of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and Alpine's Pierre Gasly. Championship leader Max Verstappen will start tomorrow's race from P5.
The ongoing Las Vegas GP is the 22nd race of the 2024 F1 calendar and the third United States race. Taking place at Las Vegas Strip Circuit, this is the second edition of the race after it was inaugurated last year.
Mercedes continued to be utterly dominant throughout the race weekend so far. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell wrapped up FP1 in P1 and P2, respectively. Hamilton continued his dominance in FP2, as he secured P1 again ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris.
On top of that, Russell secured P1 in FP3 as well and finally, he pulled off a brilliant lap to put himself in pole position on Saturday. While the Mercedes boys had a happy hunting experience in Nevada, Q3 did not go as planned for Hamilton.
The seven-time world champion made a mistake in his final flying lap and, as a result, managed P10. Championship contender Lando Norris will start the race from P6, two places ahead of his teammate, Oscar Piastri, who will be at P8.
