Pierre Gasly had a fantastic 2020 Formula 1 season after being demoted from Red Bull in 2019. The young Frenchman won the first Grand Prix of his career at Monza last year with AlphaTauri. However, there are no routes for Gasly to another opportunity in the Red Bull for the future. His performances in the sister team were enough to justify a return to Red Bull after the team dropped Alexander Albon. But the call for Gasly never came as Red Bull employed Sergio Perez.

It's obvious that Gasly's future is not within the Red Bull stable. The Frenchman needs to maintain his form in 2021 to impress suitors. Reports have linked Gasly to a seat at Alpine, but only time will tell if the Frenchman gets the opportunity.

It is imperative that Gasly beats Yuki Tsunoda. The young Japanese has rapidly progressed through multiple junior series and is a highly rated prospect. The Frenchman also finds it difficult to perform under pressure, and a slew of early results for Tsunoda could put Gasly on the back foot.

Pierre Gasly should be considered the favorite to come out on top in the intra-team battle. However, the rapid Japanese rookie is no slouch. The Frenchman must dominate Tsunoda throughout the season.

Antonio Giovinazzi

Antonio Giovinazzi hasn't fulfilled the promise he showed in his debut season in Formula 1. Two years with Alfa Romeo have not been enough for the Italian to outrace the oldest driver on the grid, Kimi Raikkonen.

It came as a shock when Alfa Romeo re-signed Giovinazzi, despite having the option to add Mick Schumacher and Robert Shwartzman to the team. The team has decided to trust the Italian for a third year, which is surely the last chance he has to beat Raikkonen and stamp his authority within the team.

If Giovinazzi cannot beat the 41-year-old Finn, Alfa Romeo will certainly look for replacements within the Ferrari driver academy.
