McLaren driver Oscar Piastri was finally able to secure his first race win in the sport at the Hungarian GP after coming close on several occasions previously. The Aussie driver took the lead from teammate Lando Norris at turn one after a better start compared to the Brit.

The 23-year-old is the 115th race-winning driver in the sport but wasn't the first one to win his first race at the Hungaroring. Below is the list of drivers who had their first F1 win at the Hungarian GP over the years:

#1 Damon Hill

Damon Hill took his first race win in the sport racing for Williams F1 in his rookie campaign in 1993. The Brit had the pleasure of driving the dominant FW15C that saw Alain Prost secure his fourth and final title in F1 in his final year as a driver in the sport.

Hill won the 1993 Hungarian GP after Prost was unable to start the race in P1 due to stalling on the first lap and led Ricardo Patrese and Gerhard Berger to claim his lifelong dream.

#2 Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso won his first race in the sport in Budapest on a hot afternoon in 2003 having led in his Renault from start to finish. The young Spaniard was able to prove his prodigious talent and drove a smooth race from pole position to get the team's first win in years.

Alonso built a substantial lead in the opening laps and never looked back and even lapped the then-reigning five-time world champion Michael Schumacher en route to a famous win.

#3 Jenson Button's emotional race win at the Hungarian GP

It was a long road for Jenson Button before he claimed his first race win at the Hungarian GP in the 2006 season, in the mixed weather conditions that he would later become known for.

The Honda driver was able to capitalize on the mistakes made by title contenders Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher during the race and held his own throughout the rain and damp conditions at the Hungaroring.

#4 Heikki Kovalainen

Heikki Kovalainen had challenged for a race win on numerous occasions in the 2008 season while supporting his teammate Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren in the latter's epic title fight with Felipe Massa.

However, when Hamilton's car had a puncture at the midway point of the race and Massa's Ferrari gave up in the last three laps, the Finn was perfectly positioned to take his one and only race win in F1.

#5 Esteban Ocon

Esteban Ocon's win at the Hungarian GP in 2021 was one of persistence and exceptional calmness under pressure while fending off four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel on the track.

The Alpine driver inherited the race lead after the second restart after Lewis Hamilton went to pit and never looked back, having already survived the carnage of the first restart. He held his own beautifully keeping the Aston Martin driver for 69 laps.

#6 Oscar Piastri

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri won his first race at the Hungarian GP in peculiar conditions with his teammate Lando Norris giving up the race lead with three laps to go after following team orders.

The Brit had inherited the race lead after undercutting Piastri in the final stint but was told repeatedly to give back the position to his young Aussie teammate, to which he finally obliged.
