The organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix announced that the 2011 race at the Yas Marina circuit has sold out. This happens to be the third consecutive year of weekend sell out since its debut in 2009. The weekend will see crowd in the range of 50000 witnessing the F1 action at the most spectacular circuit on the calender.
Richard Cregan, Chief Executive Officer of Yas Marina Circuit, said:
“We take a genuine sense of pride in the fact that 50,000 fans will pack out our grandstands again this year. We believe it is a reflection of the very special event that the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit has become.”
The Yas Marina circuit has 55 laps with each lap of 5.55.km making a race distance of 305.35km. Last year drivers found it very difficult to overtake but this year there are two DRS zones with two separate activation points and this should make a significant difference.
There are some good support races for the grand prix to enjoy including the final of GP2 series, the Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup and the Middle East Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
