Adrian Sutil will test for Sahara Force India in Barcelona this week as he competes for the remaining seat on the 2013 grid with Jules Bianchi.
Paul di Resta, the current no.1 driver for the team, will be in the cockpit for Tuesday and Wednesday before handing it over to Sutil on Thursday, who in turn will hand it over to Bianchi on Friday. Both Sutil and Bianchi are competing for the second seat, while the Sahara Force India is yet to confirm di Resta’s team-mate with just under one month left for the opening round in Australia.
Sutil is familiar with the Silverstone-based Sahara Force India after driving for them between 2007 and 2011. He lost his seat to Nico Hulkenberg in 2012, but Hulkenberg left for Sauber at the end of season, creating a vacancy for the team to fill.
Meanwhile, a Force India spokesperson has denied this week’s test is a direct shootout between the two, but earlier this month deputy team principal Bob Fernley said both the Drivers are vying for a place of second driver.
