Fernando Alonso congratulated Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing after they took their fourth straight title in India.

“I think congratulate him, they’ve been very strong, very dominant, especially the second part of the season so they deserve to be champions and congratulations.” Vettel told the BBC after becoming the youngest ever four time world champion.

While Vettel had a great race and made it’s way from from traffic over the 60 laps of the Indian Grand Prix, Alonso’s chances of maintaining his 100% podium record in India took a bitter blow when he hit Mark Webber at the very first corner of the race. To make his maters worse, he clipped Jenson Button‘s McLaren on turn 4.

“Obviously not a clear start. I was a little bit unlucky because I think Mark also was having a contact with someone and then the third part was me in that equation. With Button as well in corner four is was a little bit of mixed start.” the Spaniard said.

“The race was uphill from that moment because we were last with one stop more compared to the others already done so difficult race and not enough pace. It was damaged, I think the front toe or something because the steering wheel was very heavy to the right corners and very light to the left so it was something going on there.” he added.

With Rosberg and Hamilton finishing in second and sixth respectively, Mercedes moved ahead of Ferrari in the constructors stake but Alonso was determined to get the Prancing Horse back in second place in the standings.

“You know it was not only that problem I think the overall weekend was not good enough and in Abu Dhabi we need to improve if we want to pass Mercedes in the constructors’ championship.” said the 32 year old.
