Barrichello's future uncertain after Raikkonen talks

Uncertainty surrounds Barrichello's 2012 race seat

Rubens Barrichello’s future sounds uncertain after recent reports claiming talks between the Williams team and 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen.

Williams F1 team is having their worst season in Formula 1 after pairing hugely experienced Rubens Barrichello and a rookie Pastor Maldonado. They have managed only 5 points from 17 races. It is believed that Maldonado will retain his race seat in 2012 – thanks to the huge sponsorship money from his backers, a Venezuelan oil company PDSVA.

Barrichello said last month that he wants to keep racing in F1 and is hoping for a 2012-race-seat decision before season ending Brazilian grand prix.

The fans need to know. Williams told me they would like to make a decision before Brazil, so I hope at least that is a positive. I would like that to happen,” Barrichello told reporters last month.

The Iceman, Kimi Raikkonen, is still hugely popular and much talked about driver in the sport. His speculated return is supposed for a 2013 seat with top team.
