Lotus Driver Kimi Raikkonen, who claimed the record of the most consecutive points finishes earlier this year by beating Michael Schumacher’s achievement, has set a final benchmark for the record after his race ended early during the Belgian Grand Prix.
The Finn retired on lap 25 of the 44 lap race after suffering from brake issues. This now puts the Finn’s championship challenge in jeopardy after scoring no points this race while his rival and Championship favorite Sebastian Vettel scored the full 25 points.
The record now stands at 27 consecutive races in the points and will be difficult to beat in the near future. This was Raikkonen’s first retirement in 39 races.
