Bianchi beats Alonso and Massa in go-karting

Rio de Janeiro - Frenchman Jules Bianchi upstaged Ferrari‘s Formula 1 pair of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa by winning the Challenge of the Stars go-kart event in the southern Brazilian city of Penha.

Force India test driver Bianchi claimed the title by finishing fourth in the second of two races Sunday after winning Saturday’s opening day of competition, Xinhua reports.

Two-time Formula 1 world champion Alonso ended Sunday’s race in 18th place after failing to finish Saturday due to mechanical problems.

“It was a fun weekend and I hope the public enjoyed themselves as much as I did,” Alonso said of the event which raised money for charity.

The race’s previous winners include Felipe Massa (2006), Rubens Barrichello (2008) and Michael Schumacher (2007, 2009).
