Brazilian GP: Pit stop strategies

Mark Webber has claimed his first victory of the 2011 season at the season finale Brazilian grand prix after taking the lead from Sebastian Vettel in lap 30 of the race. There are some suspicions about a possible manipulation of Webber’s win from Red Bull racing after Vettel set some fastest laps even though he was having a gearbox problem. The team principal Christian Horner has denied these suggestions.

Now, have a look at some numbers from the Brazilian grand prix. The race had 58 pit stops with only one driver-through penalty which was handed to Bruno Senna for causing a collision with seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. Most of the teams went on for a three stops strategy. All drivers started the race on Pirelli PZero soft tyres and ended the race on medium compounds except the home hero Ruben Barrichello. Here is a tabled description of pit-stops.
