26-year old Indian driving sensation Karun Chandhok faces speculation that he may be dropped from his racing team Hispania Racing (HRT) due to sponsorship problems. Team boss Colin Kolles was reportedly in the process of lining up a replacement, with names such as Christijan Albers and Pastor Maldonado.
In the end of last month car constructor Dallara ended its association with the team but the HRT driver denies and says, “There is so much speculation and I don’t know if it’s being started by other drivers who are trying to get in or whatever,” he told Reuters. “Three weeks ago, team-mate Bruno (Senna) was the one – all over the internet it was, ‘Bruno’s out and so is coming in with money’ – and this week it seems to be my turn.”
Karun is no doubt pretty loyal to his current team, but in his heart he is longing to drive for Vijay Mallya’s team and he admits that there has been sharing of words linking him with Force India.
“It’s a logical link people would make for me and Force India,” the Chennai-born driver man began to conclude. “I think I’ve proved to be a respectable Formula 1 driver and they are obviously now a very respectable midfield Formula 1 team.”
The HRT team is indeed having problems throughout this season with much engine failures during the races and still to earn a point. Can a replacement help the team to fight the sponsorship deals?
The Indian says, “As far as I know, I am in Valencia, I am in the car and I am in for the rest of the season.
