McLaren driver Sergio Perez has backed Daniel Ricciardo to shine at Red Bull after the driver secured a move from Toro Rosso.
“I think it is important that he comes with the right attitude for his team. I know Daniel very well, he is a good friend of mine, and I think he has the right attitude to cope with it. I think he will do very well and I expect him to be fighting straight away,” said Perez.
“It will take him a couple of races but, if Red Bull has a good consistent car, he will be with Sebastian straight away. It will be very good for him,” he added.
Perez himself has the experience of moving from a small team to a big one after he switched from Sauber to McLaren this year.
Perez also said that the partnering of Ricciardo with Sebastian Vettel will be interesting and added that Ricciardo will have a lot of expectations to live up to.
“The pressure raises a lot, and there is a lot of pressure in a team like McLaren and Red Bull. For sure there is more pressure than he has at the moment at Toro Rosso, or what I had at Sauber. But I think as a racing driver you have to focus and deliver to 100 per cent. That is the way to handle it,” Perez added.
