Swiss Formula one team, Sauber, has had a tough starting season in 2013. Its car has proved to be more than disappointing, following one of its strongest campaigns last year.
Sauber says that people assume the disappointing Monaco Grand Prix performance it has had as an indicator of the progress the team has made in recent weeks.
While Esteban Gutierrez finished in the 13th position, Nico Hulkenberg barely made it to two positions ahead of his novice team mate.
Team manager Monisha Kaltenborn insists that Sauber has made progress with its car since introducing a raft of updates in Spain and has stated vehemently that the form of the team cannot be judged by Monte Carlo’s unique character alone.
“We cannot take this race to measure the progress that we have made; this race is very special,” said Kaltenborn. “But what’s very important is that what we implemented in Barcelona was a good step ahead.”
She has, however, admitted that the progress of its 2014 car will depend on the amount of resources needed to solve the current car’s issues.
