F1 teams will be given a 10 place penalty if they release a car from the pit box with loose wheels.
This move comes after a loose wheel from Mark Webber‘s car hit an FOM cameraman at the German Grand Prix, causing serious shoulder and rib injury.
Since then, F1′s governing body FIA has introduced certain measures to improve safety in the pit lane. These include significantly reducing the number of cameraman and pitlane reports allowed in the pitlane during live sessions and limiting them to pitwall. Further, the pitlane speed limit has been reduced from 100km/hr to 80km/hr.
FIA were also looking for imposing a minimum pit stop time but this measure didn’t receive the required support for approval.
