Webber had a qualifying session to forget. He could only manage to qualify in 18th position, due to some electrical problems during the practice session.
His partner Sebastian Vettel was in the pole position. Webber had an ordinary start to the race where he managed to overtake only one car ahead of him on the first few laps.
However, Webber gained some places slowly and steadily after his pit-stops. Webber managed to overtake Michael Schumacher to gain an important seventh place mid-race and continued to push hard.
Webber went past Alonso and Felipe Massa next. With less than 10 laps remaining, Webber went past Nico Rosberg to gain the fourth position.
The race ended in a dramatic fashion when Webber beat Jenson Button for the final podium place on the final lap.
Lewis Hamilton won the race, followed by Vettel, and Webber. Nobody expected Webber on the podium after a disastrous qualifying session, but Webber gave everything he had and finished third.
