Sahara Force India Formula One team have announced that they have signed the 24 year old James Calado as their new F1 test driver. The young Briton currently competes in GP2 and took part in the Young Drivers test in July for the Force India team.
“I’m pleased to confirm that we’ve signed James as our third driver,” said Force India Team Principal Vijay Mallya.
The team will hand him his first Friday practice session at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
James races for the ART Grand Prix team and lies 5th in the Championship. He has taken one win and 5 podiums this Season.
Force India’s previous test driver Jules Bianchi has moved to a full time race seat at Marussia at the beginning of this year.
