Nearly two years after his career-threatening crash in a local rally, Polish driver Robert Kubica is back in Formula 1′s fold. German newspaper Bild reported that the ex-Renault and BMW driver has been testing state-of-the-art simulators, at Mercedes‘ Brackley headquarters on the outskirts of London for weeks.

Kubica has a history with the British-based team when he tested their DTM car ahead of a proposed move for a second-tier rally series set to begin in 2014. However, he eventually ended up signing for French-based, Citroen.

The 28-year-old Pole has made it his top priority to return to the pinnacle of motor sports as soon as possible. He is still recovering from a crushed-right arm and is on a strict rehabilitation schedule.
