The F1 penalty points system is in place to keep driving standards on track above a certain threshold. The emergence of the system, where points were given based on transgressions, was introduced in 2014. It was also a consequence of driving standards taking a hit a year or two prior, with drivers like Romain Grosjean even getting a race ban in 2012 for the incident he caused in the F1 Belgian GP.
Since 2014, when this system was put in place, we haven't seen any driver get banned, even though Pierre Gasly came very close to it in 2023.
The F1 Spanish GP was more straightforward concerning penalty points. The race didn't feature any penalty for driving standards, and only Logan Sargeant was penalized on Saturday for impeding. With that being said, where does each driver stand in terms of F1 penalty points after the Spanish GP? Let's take a look.
