The F1 penalty points system is used to keep the driving standards in the sport above a threshold. With the system, penalty points are given on the basis of the transgressions of the drivers. The transgressions tend to vary from dangerous driving, causing a collision, pushing a driver off track, etc.
These points stay with the driver for a period of 12 months, after which they expire. If a driver ends up accumulating 12 F1 penalty points, then he faces a race ban. Most famously, Pierre Gasly came close to getting a ban in 2023 when he had accumulated 10 points.
Ahead of Ferrari's home race in Monza, where do the drivers stand in terms of their penalty points? Let's take a look.
