Felipe Massa has confirmed on Instagram that he will not be driving for Ferrari in 2014.
“From 2014 I will no longer be driving for Ferrari. I would like to thank the team for all the victories and incredible moments experienced together.” Felipe Massa said.
Felipe Massa who made his Grand Prix debut with Sauber, made it into Ferrari in 2006 – teaming up with 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher. In 2008, the Brazilian challenged for the championship till the end and eventually lost out to Lewis Hamilton in dramatic circumstances in his home country Brazil.
“From each one of you I have always received great support! Right now I want to push as hard as possible with Ferrari for the remaining 7 races.” he added.
However, Massa has made his contentions clear for next season. He wants to drive for a team which can give him a competitive car to fight for victories and championships.
“For next year, I want to find a team that can give me a competitive car to win many more races and challenge for the Championship which remains my greatest objective!” said an optimistic Brazilian.
Felipe Massa’s departure opens up a seat at Ferrari, which news reports have confirmed will be filled by Kimi Raikkonen.
