Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa, has that its his qualifying result that didn’t allow him to finish higher than the 3rd place finish he recorded in Spain.
The Brazilian was given a 3-place penalty for impeding Mark Webber during the crucial Q3 of qualifying. He set a time which earned him the 6th spot on the podium. However, because of the penalty, he dropped to 9th.
“I’m disappointed because of what happened yesterday,” said Massa. “I didn’t cause any issues for him.“
“So I tried to be aggressive (in the race), passing people and I tried to undercut people as well by stopping before them.“
Massa finished the race 3rd after a an excellent race which saw both the Ferraris on the podium; Fernando Alonso won the race.
“Maybe there was the opportunity to fight with Kimi, but in the end it was a great race, we did a great job,” said Massa.
“My car was superb for this track and the degradation of the tyres was not like Lotus but we did the best we could do and we showed the performance we expected to have from Friday.“
The team now heads to the Circuit de Monte Carlo in the Principality for the Monaco Grand Prix.
