Fernando Alonso is a Spanish racing driver who competes for Formula One (F1) team Aston Martin, as of March 2025. Born on July 29, 1981 in Oviedo, he is regarded as one of the greatest drivers of all time, having represented F1 teams such as Renault, McLaren, and Ferrari. He is a two-time F1 World Drivers' Championship winner as he lifted the title in 2005 and 2006. He also has 32 Grand Prix wins to his name, as of March 2025.

The two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans champion began kart racing at the age of three and made his car racing debut in the 1999 Euro Open by Nissan with Campos Motorsport. The Spaniard progressed to the International Formula 3000 Championship with Team Astromega before signing for F1 team Minardi in 2001. He made his F1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix in 2001. In 2025, at the age of 43, he is the oldest and the most experienced F1 driver on the grid.

Fernando Alonso has lifted two F1 World Drivers' Championship titles, which he won in 2005 and 2006 with Renault. He equalled Emerson Fittipaldi as the youngest World Driver's Championship winner in 2005. He won seven races, gained six pole positions, and had 14 podium finishes in the 2005 season.

After signing a contract extension with Renault for the 2006 season, Alonso won the Driver's Championship for the second time in a row in 2006. He won six out of the first nine races and gained an 84-point lead in the standings. The Spaniard eventually became F1's youngest double-world champion driver.

Fernando Alonso F3 Championship Wins

Fernando Alonso did not win any Formula 3 (F3) races as he surpassed the driver's selection procedure directly from karting to open-wheel racing series in 1999. He tasted success in the open-seat racing league for Campos Motorsport. In the 1999 Euro Open by Nissan, he clinched the driver's title of the season by winning six races and gaining nine pole positions in his debut season.

Fernando Alonso Karting Championship Wins
