Fernando Alonso hopes to beat Sebastian Vettel next season

Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso said he hopes he would be able to beat Sebastian Vettel to the driver’s title next season.

While Alonso did have a good start to the season, his team fell off the pace after the summer break and could not stop Red Bull and Vettel’s domination, handing them the 4th consecutive Divers and Constructors championship.

“I congratulate him,” Alonso said of Vettel. “They’ve been very strong, very dominant, especially in the second half of the season, so they deserve to be champions.

“We need to start thinking for next year and try to make things more difficult for him.”

About the race, Alonso said, “Obviously it was not a clean start. I was a bit unlucky because I think Mark was also having contact with someone and the third part of that equation was me.

“I also had a battle in corner four with Button. The race was uphill from then on as we were last with one stop already done.”
