Despite qualifying 8th on the grid, Alonso hammered past his rivals to take the win after the race was held up by torrential rain. After the race restarted under the safety car, Alonso eased a rather crappy Ferrari up the grid as he took out his rivals one by one. He then endured a challenge from the Sauber of Sergio Perez who blitzed the lap times during the final quarter of the race.
