Former Formula One champion Alan Prost has said that Ferrari will be able to manage the all-world champion pairing of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen next season.
Prost had a similar pairing with Ayrton Senna at Mclaren in 1988 which ended in Prost leaving for Ferrari after two years. But he insisted that the partnership with Senna helped him become a better driver and influenced him a lot.
“Only next year will tell us, because that [choice] can work very well. It has worked very well in the past. Everybody thinks about the reality between me and Senna – but it has also worked well,” he said.
“It worked very well for the team, we really put the team on top. If you have a problem it is the management that has to make it work. It is going to be more difficult but it can work,” he added.
Prost also believes that the easy-going personality of Raikkonen will be crucial in avoiding friction between the drivers next season.
“It should be easier because Kimi has a different character,” Prost said.
