Force India is currently seven points ahead of McLaren in the championship table, thanks to the combined accomplishments of both Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Sutil was one of the stars of the show on the streets of Monte Carlo as he moved from eighth position on the grid to P5 while Di Resta came from 17th to finish ninth.
“Everything finally came together for Adrian, so we’re thrilled and relieved for him. That drive will do his confidence the world of good,” said Bob Fernley, the Deputy team principal.
McLaren, their once illustrious rivals, in spite of their poor form during the start, is quickly picking up pace to ensure that the Constructors’ Championship will be an interesting battle in the campaign.
But Force India, in an effort to mess with their conviction, has warned McLaren that they will do everything in their power to pry the fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship from their hands.
Bob Fernley hopes the change in engine rule in 2014 will help them, just in time to give his side a boost in the race for fifth.
“There is obviously still a long way to go, but we’re going to give it a go. We’re not backing off anywhere,” Fernley said during an interview with Press Association Sport. “The one thing that may be in our favour this year is we all have to switch resources, if we’ve not already done so then in the very-near future, over to the 2014 car.”
