German GP: Vettel tops Free Practice 2

F1 Grand Prix of Germany - Practice

One of the four Germans vying for home glory, Sebastian Vettel topped the 2nd Practice Session of the German Grand Prix. Vettel, who was almost a second and a half off the pace in the morning session, managed to get on top of the soft tyres in the afternoon session and put in a best lap of 1:30.416. Nico Rosberg, who finished 2nd in the morning session, finished in the 2nd again in this session.

FP1 pace setter Lewis Hamilton finished in 8th, almost 9 tenths behind Vettel’s top time. Webber, who finished in 3rd in the morning, was 3rd again in this session, just 3 hundredths of a second behind Rosberg.

Grosjean and Raikkonen looked better on the softer tyres and managed 4th and 5th. Alonso, who did not set a time in the morning, put in a good number of laps and finished in 6th, six tenths off Vettel’s best time. Massa’s race pace looked good as he finished in 7th.

Mercedes looked like they were on top this morning, now it looks like Red Bull have set things right and are back on top again. This battle will go on until the very last lap.

Tomorrow, the conditions will be warmer and this could play into the hands on Red Bull even more. Let’s wait and see if Mercedes manage to spoil the Red Bull party once again!
