British racing star, Lewis Hamilton, insists that Mercedes should take their W04 further if they want to have a standing chance at winning the World Championship. He also admitted that in spite of his aspirations, he isn’t expecting a swift breakthrough moment in the British GP.

The former world Champion, after arriving at his new Brackley team in January, managed to make it to the fourth position – almost 55 points lower than Vettel, in spite of the inconsistent performance in the first seven races.

Mercedes attempt to revamp the W04 has paid off well in the last two races, with Nico Rosberg winning in Monaco and Hamilton finishing in third position in Canada. But since neither circuit had the kind of high-speed corners where tyres are put to the test, the boundaries of W04′s single-lap speed’s conversion to something powerful has not been fully justified.

Also, since the match at Silverstone features such tricky turns, Hamilton has already braced himself for a really challenging game. Hamilton, in spite of having written off his title hopes, owing to leading positions of Red Bull and Ferrari, is still clinging on to the hope of a sustained championship challenge.

“I didn’t leave Montreal thinking I’m going to Silverstone with the possibility of winning,” the Daily Mirror quoted Hamilton as saying.”

“As for the championship there are still 12 races left. It’s not impossible. But we need to make another big step with the car.”
