I knew which tyres we were testing: Nico Rosberg

Nico Rosberg has openly admitted that he was aware of which tyres he was testing during Mercedes‘ tyre test with Pirelli at Barcelona, in spite of the tyre manufacturer insisting otherwise.

Rosberg had initially said that the team didn’t have any control over what was carried out.

When asked if he or Mercedes was able to learn anything from the test, Rosberg had claimed: “Nope, just Pirelli. I was trying to give them as much information as possible and what I was feeling to help them out with their tyre development program.”

However, when asked if he knew which tyres he was testing, he replied: “Yes, for sure, of course.”

Mercedes has been asked to answer to a disciplinary inquiry in front of the FIA’s International Tribunal over the test.

Rosberg also added that he didn’t expect the issue to turn into a fully fledged row as, at the time, he thought it was perfectly normal that they were doing the test.
