McLaren driver Jenson Button has confirmed that he will be racing for the team next season despite not having his contract extended yet.
“It’s not an issue for either party. So just concentrating on racing and we’ll be racing together in 2014,” said Button addressing the contract situation.
Despite the team underperforming this season, team principal Martin Whitmarsh also hinted that the team will field an unchanged lineup next season claiming that the drivers deserve another chance.
Button also expressed his opinion about the new all-world champion line-up including Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso that Ferrari will have next year.
“It’s an interesting one. I’ve been with Lewis [Hamilton] before, we’re both World Champions, and that was a pretty interesting atmosphere in the team. I don’t think it was a bad thing – I think it was a good thing for both of us – and we’ll see if it’s a good thing for those two,” he said.
