Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso and McLaren’s Jenson Button have paid tribute to Sebastian Vettel after the German secured his fourth consecutive World Championship title with a win in the Indian Grand Prix.
“Seb is a great driver. Anyone who wins four world titles has done a fantastic job and will be remembered in the sport as one of the greats,” said Button.
Vettel has replicated the feet achieved by greats like Michael Schumacher and Juan Manuel Fangio with a fourth title and the fact that no other driver has won the championship since the turn of the decade add the icing to the cake.
“Sebastian is ahead because he does the best job. The best one wins,” said Fernando Alonso, who is second in the standing behind Vettel.
Meanwhile, Red Bull principal Christian Horner also praised Vettel and said that he would come out on top regardless of his opponents.
“I would put him against anyone in these cars and I believe he’d come out on top. He drives the car like a motorcross rider or a speedwasy rider on corner entry. He is totally relaxed to have the car moving around beneath him as he turns in, and not many drivers are,” Horner said.
“He’s driving to a fantastically high level all the time. It’s really on an elevated plane,” he added.
