James Calado has said that he dreams of having a future in Formula One after experiencing a big grand prix weekend in Monza with Force India.
“That’s the dream, but I don’t have any future plans. I can only do my best now both in GP2 and the F1 practice. We’ll see what happens. The ambition is obviously to be a race driver; that’s what I’ve always dreamed of. I’ll do my very, very best to try and get there,” he said.
Calado was in action in Friday’s practice session prior to the Grand Prix and amassed 24 laps with a best time of 1:27.041.
“Amazing – that’s the only word I can use really, fantastic. It took quite a while to get used to, to be honest – it’s a lot different to the GP2 car – but after a while I was familiar with everything again like I was at Silverstone [Young Driver Test] and was able to drive consistently and do some reasonable lap times actually,” Calado added.
The 24 year old Brit was 1.476s down on Lewis Hamilton‘s P1 time and takes it as a positive sign.
