Marussia driver Jules Bianchi has been slapped with a five-place grid penalty for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix because of gearbox change.
The change for gearbox became imminent after the Frenchman glanced the barriers during the final practice session at the Yas Marina circuit. The incident took place in turn 2 following a spin of the Marussia in the session.
According to the rules, a gearbox should complete a mandatory five races but Bianchi’s gearbox will be replaced before the prescribed time period which has handed him a five place penalty.
