McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh has claimed that former driver Kimi Raikkonen is looking to move away from Lotus. However, Martin also said that the Finn would fail in his attempts to do so in 2014.
The 2007 World Champion has been linked with Red Bull and a sensational return to Ferrari to partner Fernando Alonso.
Raikkonen is also linked McLaren although Lotus remains confident of convincing the star to stay for another season.
“Kimi has always been great and I am a big fan of him. There is a lot of speculations out there at the moment, so let’s see what happens,” said Martin in the official F1 website when asked about the possible return of Raikkonen to McLaren.
“Last year we had talks with him, but for various reasons it didn’t happen. This year we’ve had no talks – yet,” he added.
