Lewis Hamilton is a British racing driver who competes in Formula One for Mercedes. Hamilton owns the F1 record for career race victories and is at par with Michael Schumacher in holding the record for winning seven Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship titles. Hamilton’s racing days began when he started competing in kart racing at eight in 1993 and became the youngest driver to win the British cadet karting championship at 10.

In 1998, Hamilton joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme. His successful junior racing career under this program with McLaren led to a Formula One drive with the team from 2007 to 2012. After his debut season with McLaren, he became the youngest Formula One World Champion.

Hamilton was ranked as the richest British sportsperson in 2015. According to Forbes magazine, Hamilton was one of the highest-paid athletes of the 2010s decade and the highest-paid Formula One driver from 2013 to 2021.

When will Lewis Hamilton Retire?

Hamilton has signed a contract extension with Mercedes and will remain with Mercedes until the end of the 2025 season. After the 2025 season, Hamilton will move to Ferrari, with whom he reportedly agreed to a multi-year deal.
