
McLaren Racing, or McLaren F1 Racing, is a British motorsport company that competes in the FIA World Formula 1 Championship. Founded by Bruce McLaren in 1693 and won its first ever Grand Prix at the 1968 Belgian Grand Prix. The team entered F1 for the first time in 1966 at the Monaco Grand Prix. With nine constructors’ titles and 12 drivers’ championship wins, McLaren is the second most successful team in the history of F1 after Ferrari.
Since its debut in 1966, McLaren has entered into F1 races with 974 starts and 531 podiums. In 2024 McLaren created history by winning the World Constructor Championship title after 26 years since their last win in 1998. The team has been home to many legendary drivers like Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Mika Häkkinen, and Lewis Hamilton.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are the McLaren drivers for the 2025 season. Both drivers have already signed a multi-year contract deal with the team. However, they will be with McLaren until 2028.

McLaren Racing has elected various young reserve drivers through the decades. But in the early days, there was no such thing as reserve drivers. The team relies on various racers who are available within the team and race in the championship. In the early 2020s, the concept of a reserve driver came into existence.
