Eric Boullier says money could decide Romain’s team-mate

According to Lotus boss, money could decide who they hire as Romain Grosjean‘s team-mate.

Nico Hulkenberg and Pastor Maldonado are in the running for a seat at Lotus. However, Nico does not have enough sponsorship backing while Maldonado brings with him a lot of sponsors. And even though Boullier has repeatedly said he would like to sign Hulkenberg, he admitted that money could be an important factor.

“I need to decide if I can afford a driver,” Boullier told the BBC.

“The idea is to bring stability to the team.

“Yes, we are working for a financial package, but I would like to have the best drivers as well.

“But you also have to think about your team. You need to save your people.”
