7-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher‘s health is in danger of deteriorating, if reports are to be believed.
Schumacher, still in a coma at the Grenoble University Hospital, has contracted a lung infection, according to reports published in the German newspaper Bild on Wednesday.
The newspaper did not cite its sources but said that the effects of the infection on the health of the 45-year-old German were unknown.
Schumacher’s spokeswoman Sabine Kehm refused to make a comment on the report, saying - “We are not commenting on speculation.”
Schumacher has been in a coma since December 29, 2013 after he seriously injured his head in a skiing accident at the French Alpine skiresort of Meribel.
Just a couple of weeks back, there was some positive news regarding the health of Schumacher with doctors confirming that his sedation had been reduced to try and get him out of an induced coma.
With Schumacher’s representatives giving no authentic information to the general public, the hospital has had to fend off unpleasant rumours last week about Schumacher’s death.
Schumacher’s wife Corinna has been at his bedside all the while and has been reportedly talking to him for hours in an attempt to get him to respond.
