Mark Webber completes first day of testing with Porsche

Former Formula One driver Mark Webber has completed his first day of testing with Porsche in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Webber, who had his last Formula One race in the Brazilian Grand Prix, embarked on a new career when he joined Porsche to race in the WEC.

Porsche has been testing all year to prepare for their return to a top level competition and the tests were concluded on Tuesday at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal.

“My first day in this fascinating project was an intense experience for me. I would like to thank Red Bull Racing for giving me the chance to join the project so early. This is a major and important step for us all,” Webber said.

“It allows me to integrate with the team quicker and to contribute to further developing the LMP1 race car. We have a long way to go and it involves a lot of hard work. I have no misconceptions about this,” he added.

Webber will officially join the team on the first week of January.
