Red Bull driver Mark Webber has expressed his desire to beat teammate and reigning champion Sebastian Vettel at least once before he retires at the end of the season.
“Obviously Seb had a seamless weekend, he has had bit of a love affair with this track but hopefully I can take something off him before the end of the season,” Webber said after the Italian GP.
The Australian registered his first podium at Monza in his 11 visits and hopes to carry the momentum till the end of this season.
“It’s great place and to get on the podium was good. This is not a circuit I have had the best luck at,” he said.
Fernando Alonso and Webber were engaged in an entertaining battle throughout the race but the duo could not close down Vettel, who dominated the race from the word go.
“Fernando and I had a good battle and I settled in after that and I was just thinking how would I get Felipe around the stop and I cleared him relatively easily and it gave me a chance with Alonso. In the end it was a great weekend for us,” he said.
