Mark Webber optimistic for 2012 season

After being beaten comprehensively by his teammate, Mark Webber is optimistic that he will come back stronger in 2012 Formula One season. According to him, the next season will be a long and a different one.

Mark Webber finished the season at third place behind Jenson Button in the drivers’ championship, and has only managed one race win in the whole 2011 season. Webber said he is driving “very, very well” and is looking forward for the season opener – his home race at Melbourne.

He added, “The next most important race is Melbourne and next year will be different to this year, because that’s just the way I’m sure things will go. I’m still driving very, very well. It’s an extremely fine line before you start to unlock a few other things that can make your season go from good, which was this year, to great, and that’s what I need to be able to try and do.”

Webber is all charged up to get back in his prized Red Bull Racing car, which dominated the previous two seasons, as his teammate Vettel eventually emerged as champion in both.

Mark Webber said, “I still absolutely love my racing and I’m really looking forward to, it’s 100 days apparently before we get back to Melbourne, so looking forward to getting back in the car and racing.”

Mark Webber could not perform strongly in the 2011 season, even after being in front of the grid on many occasions. He couldn’t capitalize on them. Poor starts, new race tyres (Pirelli ) and some below par driving, when compared to Vettel, did not help him challenge for the title. Webber took his only victory of the season at Brazilian Grand Prix, taking the lead from team-mate Vettel after he developed a gearbox issue. With this result, he moved into third place in the championship, ahead of Fernando Alonso.

It will be interesting to see how Webber performs in the 2012 season after being on the grid which will feature six world champions – one of them is a two time world champion .
