Mark Webber clinched a dramatic British grand-prix ahead of pole position holder, Fernando Alonso.
Ferrari‘s Alonso was the favorite to win the race as he started at the pole. However, his pole position was snatched by Webber as he dove past the former with 4 laps remaining. Webber’s Red-Bull team-mate and the defending world champion, Sebastian Vettel, completed the podium.The race was a disappointment for the home drivers as Lewis Hemilton & Jenson Button finished 8th and 10th respectively, while Force India’s Paul di Resta was forced to retire from the race due to a crash on the very first lap.Felipe Massa finished a season high 4th with his former team-mate, Kimi Raikkonen, behind him. Romain Grosjean (6th), Michael Schumacher (7th) and Bruno Senna (9th) finished the top 10.
Webber, with his 9th career win, has closed the gap on leader Alonso in the driver’s standings to just 13 points. Alonso is on 129 points followed by Webber at 116 and Vettel, at 100 points, who completes the top 3.
