Michael Schumacher is probably among the top five greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time. Born on January 3, 1969, in Hürth, Germany, he started racing at the age of 12 and went on to win several titles in karting before progressing to Formula 1 as a member of the Jordan Grand Prix team in 1991 at 22 years old, and quickly established himself as a rising star. Schumacher's career took off when he was signed up by the Benetton team in 1992 at 23. He secured his first Formula 1 victory at the Belgian Grand Prix in 1992 at 23 and won the world championship in 1994 and 1995.

In 1996, Schumacher moved over to Ferrari at 27 and never looked back to record unparalleled success. He led Ferrari to the first constructors' championship that the team enjoyed in 20 years in 1999 and went on to win a record-breaking five consecutive driver's championships from 2000 to 2004. Schumacher's tenure in Formula 1 is one of a kind that has never been, and most of his records remain today. Schumacher was unlucky to suffer a severe head injury in a skiing accident in 2013 while he was 44 years old. However, Schumacher's legacy at Formula 1 is intact, and his impact on the sport is undisputed.

1994: Schumacher's First Title

Michael Schumacher won his first Formula 1 World Championship with Benetton in 1994. The season was full of controversies due to the rigorous competition posed by Damon Hill. Schumacher had six wins that year, and the title was finalized by a dramatic collision between Schumacher and Hill in the final race of the year, the Australian Grand Prix. The collision made Schumacher earn his first title after Hill was unable to complete racing.

1995: Consecutive Titles with Benetton

In 1995, Schumacher proved untouchable, taking nine wins and his second in a row, winning the title by 102 points, more than doubling the score of his nearest challenger, Damon Hill. He dominated the French and Belgian Grands Prix, using the Renault-driven Benetton.

2000: Ferrari Wins Its First Title after a 21-Year Wait

It took Schumacher several seasons to hand Ferrari its first driver's title since 1979. In 2000 he responded by winning nine Grand Prix, among them key victories in Italy and Japan to take the championship from McLaren's Mika Hakkinen with a narrow three-point margin. His victory was decisively telling at Suzuka as he ended the great drought for Ferrari with their title-winning victory.

2001: Ferrari Maintains Momentum

In 2001, Schumacher dominated further with nine wins and his fourth World Championship won with four races remaining, demonstrating the importance of his superiority over the field of races. He also made it notable with some wins during the Monaco Grand Prix and the Hungarian Grand Prix. From then on, he exceeded Alain Prost's record for most career wins.

2002: Most Dominant Season for Schumacher

The 2002 season witnessed the absolute dominance of Schumacher over the sport. He raced his way to 11 out of 17 race wins and finished in podium finishes in every race that season. With six races remaining, he secured the championship, the earliest any title had ever been won in F1 history. This marked his fifth title, equalling the great Juan Manuel Fangio's record.

2003: A Hard-Fought Sixth Championship

The season of 2003 was far closer, and Schumacher had to rely on only six victories. This pitched his championship battle on a knife-edge into the final day of the season against Kimi Raikkonen. But Schumacher's reliance on consistency and smart key victories in Canada and Italy were enough to see him take his sixth World Championship, and he became the first driver to do so with six titles.

2004: Seventh Title

2004 was the year where Schumacher reached his career peak. He won 13 out of 18 races and broke his personal bests by securing his seventh and final World Championship, with total dominating performances in Spanish and Belgian Grands Prix. This season not only represents the best in F1 history but leaves an indelible stamp on Schumacher as one of the greatest drivers ever to have graced the racing circuit.
